Make your way to the Riverland and board your Above Renmark houseboat at 3pm (earlier check in and late check out possible depending on bookings).
After your tuition, enjoy cruising downstream and moor opposite Headings Cliffs for the night where you can take in the colours of the sunset over the rich ochre cliffs.
For those who wish, a kayak along Headings Creek before breakfast will be a good start to the day.
Make your way upstream and moor for lunch. Walk along a watercourse to discover an aboriginal canoe tree.
Further upstream, you can moor near Amazon Creek, which our Woolshed brewery’s inaugral beer was named after. Go fishing, kayaking or walking the trails of the Bookmark Biosphere Reserve will provide a variety of activities.
Watch a stunning sunset over a vast saltbush plain.
In season, light your campfire, cook a few marshmallows, possibly take in some star gazing or tell a few tall tales……….
For those who wish, experience traveling through lock 6 and kayak around the back of the Isle of Man to see a profusion of exotic looking water birds.
Overnight, listen to the chorus of bird and frog calls.
Return through lock 6 and moor near Chowilla Station. Walk to historic Chowilla Woolshed, and imagine the paddle steamers winching wool bales onto their decks.
Walk along the bank of Racecourse Creek or kayak past twisted snags and fallen trees.
After a lazy breakfast, make your way back to Wilkadene to disembark by 10am.
What are you likely to see – kangaroos, goannas, possibly echidnas plus a myriad of birds, scenic panoramas, and tranquil reflections or stunning cliffs.
